IS
YOUR MODERN LIFESTYLE PUSHING THE LIMITS OF YOUR WELL-BEING?
Stress is a potent trigger that modern
world encounters, though each one’s response to what one perceives as stressful
may be unique.
Did you know that situations or stimuli
that trigger a stress response are called stressors? What are yours?
CATACLYSMIC- disasters such as earthquakes,
fires, tornedoes.
BACKGROUND STRESSORS- of a repetitive, routine
nature like blaring music, constant background noise, barking dog, traffic
jams, high-pressure careers.
PERSONAL STRESSORS-
a-
Chronic pain and illness
b-
Emotional ‘empty nest syndrome’, divorce, death
of a loved one
c-
Intellectual- facing exams, facing a problem
that requires sharp rational thinking
d-
Social stressors- undue pressures of co-workers, family, friends
Whether mild or severe, if continued over a
long period of time, stress can become chronic and create organic imbalance,
lead to depression and serious illness.
Lack of concentration, fatigue,
irritability, frequent headaches, insomnia bad dreams, shortness of breath,
pounding heart, neck or lower back pain, anxiety, moodiness are some of the
signs of CHRONIC STRESS.
You'll need to change your attitude towards life if you wish to enhance your stress coping skills.

Breakdown an overwhelming situation into smaller
manageable pieces
